Volunteer of the Year 2014

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR: KAY HUGHES

Since joining the garden club in 1994, Kay Hughes has generously       volunteered her services in many capacities: serving as Vice-President; holding the office of President from 2000 to 2004; filling in as Recording Secretary; and, most recently, chairing the club’s Publicity Committee.

She has been a faithful presence at numerous club events: assisting Adult Day Center participants at Cornerstone in the Wellness Center, regularly attending the Circle of Friends activities as well as our club’s school programs during the year, especially the Grade 1 seedling project. She was instrumental in greeting participants on Coastal Cleanup Days and taking charge of the baked goods table at the May Blossoms and Sweets sale.

Kay has consistently been our club’s cheerleader, seizing every occasionto praise her fellow club members. We, in turn, pay tribute to her long and tireless devotion to the Sogkonate Garden Club. In recognition of her many years of service, the membership has awarded Kay Hughes a special Certificate of Appreciation. Kay, we thank you for all you’ve done and continue to do, and we look forward to your ongoing association with the Sogkonate Garden Club.
