On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, 7:00 pm, at the Little Compton Community Center, the Sogkonate Garden Club and the Little Compton Community Center will sponsor an event on the life and career of Molly Luce, one of Little Compton's most beloved and talented artists.
Molly Luce (1896-1986) was a prolific artist with works in the collections of the Whitney Museum, NY Metropolitan Museum of Art, and RISD. ‘Discovered’ by Virginia Lynch, Molly's compositions and writings of local native landscapes and wildflowers were the inspiration for this event evoking the past as Little Compton celebrates its 350th Anniversary.
Molly’s neighbor will reflect on her life in Little Compton and Molly’s nephew will speak about her many years as an artist. An exhibit of over 20 of Molly's paintings from local collections will be on display. In addition, a pamphlet of her charming and inspirational writing about the vanishing wildflowers in Little Compton will be available.
